question Why are sites still making us hunt down promo codes for freebies?

Bit of a rant, but these signup freebie offers are getting annoying as hell. You see a casino waving around free spins or a few bucks to try it out, then you join and suddenly you need some random promo code that was buried on page 6 of the internet... or it's expired... or it only works if Mercury is in retrograde. Bloody painful.

I reckon if a site actually wants new players to test the place, just apply the offer automatically when we register. Simple. If I have to go digging through old review pages, Telegram groups, or dodgy code lists just to claim a tiny bonus, I'm already half gone. And don't get me started on the sneaky terms after that - max cashout is tiny, wagering is stupid, certain pokies don't count, only new accounts from specific countries, blah blah. Feels like they're hoping people won't notice till it's too late.

Do you lot still bother with code-based signup offers anymore, or only the ones that are clearly built into the cashier/account page? Keen to know if anyone's actually had a decent one lately that wasn't a complete muck around. Chuck the good ones in here if you've found any, because most of the stuff floating around looks cooked.

yeah I'm getting a bit suss on any freebie that asks for a promo box and then hides the real rules till after signup. Has anyone here actually turned one of those into a proper withdrawal without having to deposit first, or is it mostly just email bait?
