question Are the newer high-volatility pokies just dead spins for ages now?

Been flicking through a few different games lately and heaps of the newer ones seem to be built the same way - long dry patches, then everything is meant to happen in one bonus if you can actually land it. Not having a whinge, just trying to work out if that's what most people are seeing now or if I've just had a rough run lately.

I used to feel like even when a game wasn't paying much, it'd at least keep you interested with smaller hits, little teases, feature builds, that sort of thing. Now some of them feel brutal from the first spin and you can burn through a balance pretty quick. Do you lot check volatility before playing, or do you just chuck a few spins on whatever looks decent and see how it goes?

Keen to hear which style people reckon is better these days too - the slower grindy ones with more frequent hits, or the bloody volatile ones that can do nothing for ages then maybe pop off. Curious what everyone's been finding lately.

Nah you're not imagining it. Feels like heaps of the newer ones are built to do absolutely nothing in the base game and just dangle the bonus the whole time. If it can't keep me half interested before the feature, I bin it pretty quick.
