Bit of a rant, but heaps of these new games feel like the same thing with a different skin slapped on. Same bonus tease, same near-miss rubbish, same dead patch for 20 minutes, then one half-decent hit and suddenly people call it a banger. I wanna know what titles people are actually going back to, not just firing up once because some bloke on a stream carried on about it.
For me, if a game needs a thousand spins before it shows a pulse, I’m already off it. Don’t care how flashy the graphics are or how many bonus features they cram in. Give me something with a decent base game, a bonus that doesn’t take all bloody arvo to land, and payouts that don’t feel like loose change dressed up as excitement.
I’ve had more fun lately on older stuff than half the new releases, which probably says a lot. Some of the newer volatile games are alright for a quick crack, but plenty of them are just stress with better animation. What do you reckon are the actual standouts right now? Chuck in the games you keep coming back to, the ones you’ve binned off, whatever — keen to hear if I’m the only one getting over the copy-paste stuff.
