I swear half the chat around the races is just people carrying on about the gate like it decides everything. Yeah it matters sometimes, obviously, but punters act like a good horse from a tricky alley is suddenly no hope and I just don't buy that.
For me the bigger stuff is tempo, where it's gonna land after 200m, track pattern, whether the jockey actually suits the horse, and if the thing is ready to peak now instead of just running another honest race. Blokes at the pub will bang on about "drawn 2, moral" and then it gets buried on the fence when the track's off there all arvo... happens heaps.
Curious what everyone here actually puts the most weight on when you're doing the form. Sectionals? Stable intent? Trials? Wet track numbers? Or are you one of the barrier believers and reckon I'm off my head?
Wouldn't mind hearing what angles have genuinely worked for you, not the usual fluffy stuff you see everywhere. Keen to nick a few better habits before the weekend meets.
