question Anyone got a decent way to narrow a race down?

I still have a punt on the nags most weekends but half the time I end up staring at the form guide for way too long and talking myself into 3 different runners... then none of them get up lol.

Just curious how you blokes actually trim a race down. Are you mostly looking at track condition, barrier, jockey, last start, market moves, speed map... or do you just keep it simple and back what makes sense first look?

I reckon I overthink the metro meetings and somehow do better on the smaller cards when I just chuck a quick opinion together. Bit weird. Keen to hear if anyone's got a basic process that stops you going down the rabbit hole every Saturday arvo.

Not chasing miracle stuff or "sure wins" obviously, just trying to get a bit more consistent and stop making bloody late changes 2 minutes before jump. What do you lot actually trust most when you're doing the form?

Nah, I don't think the fix is building some bigger checklist, mate. Once I start ticking off every little factor I end up forcing bets, so now I just skip heaps of races and wait till one looks dead simple on paper.
