question Backing the big-name tipsters feels cooked — who actually finds value?

Bit of a rant, but I reckon most of the racing picks getting pushed around here are ordinary at best. Same horses, same short prices, same recycled chat about "good barriers" and "top jockey on"... cheers mate, anyone can find the $2.80 fav.

Im way more interested in where people are getting proper value from now. Not miracle punters or blokes pretending they never miss, just real methods that actually hold up over time. Speed maps? Trials? Sectionals? Watching replays from the provincial meetings while everyone else is chasing the Saturday metro stuff?

Feels like half the noise online is built for clicks and multis, not for finding a decent edge. And dont get me started on the tipsters who celebrate a winner after giving out 7 bets in one arvo... that does my head in.

So yeah, who do you lot actually rate for racing info here in Aus, or do you just do your own form and ignore the circus? Keen to hear what people are using, especially for the midweeks and smaller tracks where the market can still be a bit sleepy.

Chuck in your process too if youre willing. Even if its just one thing you look for before backing one. Id rather read that than another bloke carrying on about a moral from the city meeting.

All useful, but people treat sectionals like gospel and they really aren't at a lot of the smaller meetings. Bloody easy to get sucked into pretty numbers. I trust replays, yard feel, and what the market does late way more than any bloke selling picks. If a tipster can't explain why a horse is suited today beyond barrier/jockey, I tune out.
