question Been testing different racing mail lately... what do you lot actually trust?

Had a bit of a look through a bunch of racing stuff the last couple of weekends just to see what was actually useful before having a punt. Tried the usual free previews, a couple of tipster pages, market movers, trainer/jockey comments, that sort of thing.

My rough take so far... heaps of it feels like filler. Same 2-3 obvious picks everyone lands on, then a random roughie chucked in so it looks clever if it wins. But every now and then you find someone who explains the map properly or spots a horse dropping back in grade and you go yep, that actually helps.

I was a bit surprised how often late money told me more than the write-ups did. Not always, but enough that I started paying more attention to it. Sectionals and speed maps seem handy too, though I still reckon plenty of punters talk themselves into knots with that stuff.

Curious what everyone here actually rates. Do you follow anyone decent for racing info, or just do your own form and ignore the noise? Keen to hear if there's anything especially good for Saturday metro meets, or if the better angles are more in country/provincial races where the market's a bit wonkier.

Also, do any of you pay for private mail or subscriptions, or is that mostly a waste of beer money? Ngl I'm still figuring out what cuts through and what is just dressed-up guesswork.

My little rule on Saturday arvo is do your own shortlist first, then check the market late. If the map says the fav is gonna be posted wide and everyone's still launching at it, I usually leave it alone and look for the one getting the softer run.
