Bit of a rant/review really... I’ve gone through heaps of racing pages, paid subs, Telegram groups, the blokes on X punting every second race like they’ve cracked the code, and most of it is fluff. Fancy screenshots after the winner gets up, zero mention of the 8 losing bets before it, and everyone suddenly turns into a genius on a wet track at Randwick.
The stuff I actually rate is way less flashy. I’d rather read someone who explains why they’re on a runner — map, tempo, barrier, jockey change, track pattern, whether the last run was better than it looked — instead of just chucking up “BEST BET 3 units” and calling it a day. Trial watchers can be handy too, but some of them carry on like every horse that hit the line under a hold is the second coming. Bit much.
Paid services... honestly reckon most aren’t worth the coin unless you’re getting proper staking, clear reasoning, and they post the bad days as well. If a tipster only posts winning slips, I’m out. Same with the ones tipping half the card. That’s not insight, that’s spraying and praying. Free stuff can be just as good if you’ve already got a rough handle on form and you’re not blindly tailing every mug pick that pops up on a Saturday arvo.
My take: best results usually come from using other people’s opinions as a filter, not a bible. Grab a few sharp previews, check the market move, do your own form, then make a call. Curious what everyone else is using though — any decent analysts, stable mail accounts, or form sites you actually trust? Keen to hear who’s worth following and who’s full of it.
