Bit of a rant but I swear heaps of punters make racing way harder than it needs to be. Every Saturday arvo I see people pile into the shortest thing on the board just because it came from a big stable or won by 2 lengths last start... then act shocked when it gets rolled.
I reckon the best edges here are usually the boring stuff most people skip past. Track pattern, barrier with the rail out, whether a horse is going from provincial grade into a proper metro race, and wet track form that is actually real and not just one lucky run in the slop. Late market moves matter too, but I think plenty of people overcook that and chase steam with no clue why it's firming.
For me, horses second-up with a decent jock change have been way more reliable than blind favourite backing, and I almost always look harder at Sydney and Melbourne races where the form is exposed a bit better. The country meetings can be a bloodbath unless you know the yard patterns or you've been following that circuit closely.
Curious what everyone else is leaning on lately. Sectionals? Trial replays? Just stable/jockey combos? Or have you found certain tracks are way easier to read than others? Keen to hear what people are actually using, not the usual "back good horses" stuff lol.
