I went down a bit of a rabbit hole the last couple of weeks trying a few different punting setups people swear by, mostly on NRL and AFL, and honestly I still can’t decide if some of them are actually useful or if they just make you feel organised while the bankroll leaks anyway.
Flat staking felt the most sane to me. Bit boring, yeah, but at least you know where you stand and you don’t get that horrible urge to double up after a rough arvo. I also had a crack at percentage staking and one of those loss-chasing progressions... nah, that got sketchy quicker than I expected. Looks clever in a spreadsheet, then you hit a bad run and suddenly the next bet feels way too chunky for comfort.
What I did like was having some rules before the round started instead of just winging it. Even simple stuff like only backing lines in a certain odds range or capping the number of plays kept me from doing dumb late bets. Not saying it printed money or anything, just felt a bit less chaotic.
Curious what you lot reckon though. Have any of these plans actually helped you long term, or do they mostly just tidy up the way you lose? Keen to hear which ones you’ve stuck with and which ones were a waste of time.
