question Flat bets held up way better than chasing losses for me... anyone else still bother with this stuff?

Been mucking around with a few staking ideas on pokies lately — flat stake every spin, tiny step-up after a win, and the classic double-up-after-a-loss thing that always looks smart for about 6 minutes lol.

My rough take so far: flat staking was the least exciting by a mile, but it also stopped me from doing anything stupid when a game went cold. The loss-chasing stuff felt cooked pretty quick. Couple of bad runs and suddenly the spin size is way bigger than I meant to play, bankroll disappears heaps faster than it seems in your head. The little press-after-a-win idea was kind of fun, not magic or anything, just made short sessions feel a bit more controlled.

I’m not pretending any of this beats the maths, obviously. Pokies are still pokies. I was more curious whether any setup actually helps with discipline, or if most of these plans are just a fancy way of dressing up tilt. Kinda reckon that’s the real difference.

Anyone here found one approach that genuinely keeps you steadier? Or did you end up binning the whole idea and just setting a session budget and being done with it? Keen to hear what people stuck with after the novelty wore off.

One thing that helped me more than any progression was a timer. If I'm just on for a quick arvo I set 15 mins and promise myself no stake changes till it goes off. Sounds dumb but it stops that drift where you bump it up just because you're bored. keen to know if anyone else does time limits instead of only cash limits
