question Flat bets or step-ups when the reels go cold?

Been mucking around with my session budget lately and I'm curious how everyone here handles their bet sizing on pokies. Do you just pick one amount and leave it there the whole time, or do you bump it up after a hit or drop it back when the balance starts sliding?

I usually go in thinking I'll stay flat, then 20 mins later I'm doing the classic "just one little raise" because the feature feels close... which I know is probably me talking rubbish to myself lol. Sometimes it works and feels bloody genius, other times I've chewed through the bankroll way quicker than I meant to.

Keen to hear what you lot actually do in a normal session. Do you set hard levels before you start, like if the balance gets to a certain point you raise, and if it drops to another point you cut back? Or do you just keep it simple and not overthink it? Chuck in any examples if you've got one, especially for smaller balances.

I reckon the worst move is bumping it because the bonus feels close. Pokies don't know you've been sitting there for half an arvo. I keep one base spin for the whole session and only move up if I'm already well in front, and even then it's just for a few spins from profit, not from the main deposit. If I'm sliding, I don't zigzag the size trying to rescue it, that's how it gets torched fast.
