question Am I cooked, or do small-stakes players massively overcomplicate this?

Been playing a fair bit on the apps lately and I swear half the advice getting thrown around is way too fancy for the games most people are actually in. Every second bloke is banging on about balanced ranges, solver lines, weird triple barrels... and then you sit down and the table is still full of people calling with any pair and doing spewy stuff for no reason.

I reckon the simple gear still prints more than all the galaxy-brain stuff. Tighten up preflop, stop limping junk, value bet harder, and quit trying to pull off hero bluffs against players who clearly don't like folding. Sounds basic as, yeah, but heaps of people seem allergic to just playing solid and patient. Then they torch a buy-in trying to be clever and act shocked about it.

So what actually works for you lot? If you're beating the micros or small stakes, what made the biggest difference — preflop discipline, better table selection, bankroll rules, or just learning to ditch the ego and fold? Keen to hear if anyone reckons the fancy stuff matters much at these levels, because right now I'm not buying it.

are you talking cash or tourneys mainly? leaks look pretty different to me. in the cheap tourneys people punt stacks from the blinds way more than they try any fancy river stuff
