question Position matters more than fancy plays, fight me

Bit of a hill I’ll die on — most players spend way too much time trying to learn bluffs, traps, solver gear and all that, when the biggest leak is way more boring: playing too many hands out of position and then acting surprised when every decision feels cooked.

If you’re first in and splashing around with marginal stuff just because it looked kind of pretty, you’re making the hand harder for yourself for no reason. Same deal calling raises from the blinds with rubbish that feels playable in the moment. Being last to act is massive and I reckon heaps of low-stakes players still don’t respect it enough.

Another one that does my head in: people get absolutely married to one pair. Top pair decent kicker looks lovely until some bloke who’s been dead quiet all session suddenly wakes up and starts piling chips in. At softer tables, folding big-looking hands is honestly a way bigger skill than most give it credit for.

And the obsession with bluffing... yeah nah. So many players try fancy stuff against calling stations who are clearly there for a stickybeak and a gamble. If they’re never folding second pair, why are you trying to tell a story? Just value bet them and move on, mate.

What’s the one bit of advice you reckon actually changes results once people finally listen to it? Not the generic fluff — the real one. Fold more preflop? Stop limping? Protect the bankroll better? Keen to hear what actually made things click for you.

Bit torn on the big folds thing tbh. Do you reckon newer players hear that and start binning decent hands every time some muppet rips it in? At the softer games I see heaps of random overplays with worse, so I'm never quite sure where the line is.
