question Why are new players still getting told to limp into everything?

Bit of a rant, but there’s been a heap of poker clips and beginner guides doing the rounds lately and some of the advice is absolute cooked stuff. Still seeing people tell newbies to just "see flops cheaply", overplay any ace, call big bets with one pair because "they might be bluffing"... mate, that’s how people torch a bankroll in an arvo.

Reckon the early stuff should be dead simple and a lot stricter than what gets pushed online. Play fewer hands. Respect position. Stop limping junk. Fold when the board and action are screaming at you. Don’t get cute with bluffs just because some bloke on YouTube stacked a table doing it once. Feels like heaps of beginner content skips the boring basics and jumps straight to hero-call nonsense.

If someone was properly new, I’d honestly rather tell them to be a bit nitty for a while than try to play "creative". Learn why hands go up in value late position, learn bet sizing, learn when top pair is just one pair and not the nuts, and maybe most important... stop paying people off because you’re curious.

Curious what everyone else would put first if a mate asked how to stop punting straight away. What’s the one thing beginners need drilled into them before anything fancy?

Are you talking more about cash tables or little tourneys here? Feels like a lot of new players get mixed up because the basics shift a bit once stack depth changes, and they end up copying advice from one format into the other.
