question Sign-up freebies in Aus — anyone still bother with them?

Been punting online long enough to remember when these little sign-up freebies were actually half decent. Now half of them look sweet for about 30 seconds, then you open the terms and it turns into 50x or 60x wagering, tiny max cashout, weird slot exclusions, and full KYC before you can even think about a withdrawal... bit of a stitch-up sometimes.

I still take a crack now and then if the promo looks clean enough, mainly when it is free spins on games people actually play and not some random dusty title nobody touches. Cash promos can be alright too, but heaps of sites bury the ugly bits. Had one a while back where I got the balance up nicely, then found the game only counted a tiny percentage towards wagering. Proper mood killer.

For me the main things that matter are pretty simple: realistic rollover, no silly max win cap, and not waiting forever on verification if you do get lucky. If the whole thing feels like hard yakka just to maybe pull out a small win, I usually give it a miss and move on.

What are you lot doing with these lately? Still worth chasing if you know how to pick the decent ones, or are they mostly bait now for Aussie punters? Keen to hear if anyone has found any that were genuinely playable without the usual bloody headaches.

I wouldn't say they're mostly bait tbh. I use those freebies more like a test drive than a proper crack at winning anything big. If the cashier feels dodgy, the wagering page is a mess, or support goes missing before I've even put real money in, that tells me plenty and it didn't cost me a cent. If I happen to get a withdrawal out of it, sweet, but half the value is just figuring out which places aren't worth coming back to.
