question Sign-up freebies on Aussie sites aren't what they used to be

Been checking a few of these join-up deals lately and yeah... a lot of them look better on the banner than they do once you click through. You get a handful of spins or a tiny bit of bonus credit, then the wagering is through the roof, half the decent games are excluded, and if you somehow jag a win there’s a max cashout cap sitting there waiting for you. Not exactly a ripper.

I’m not saying they’re all rubbish. A couple are still decent for a no-risk poke around the lobby, test the pokies, see how the site runs on mobile, and work out if support is asleep or actually around. That part still has value for me. I’d just never treat these offers like real bankroll anymore. They’re more like a trial spin than an actual promo.

The part that gets me is how many punters still miss the fine print on withdrawals. Some places want full ID checks before you can touch anything, some knock back wins from certain games, and some make the bonus sticky so you never really had much chance anyway. If a site is gonna chuck out a freebie, fair enough, but at least be straight about the rules.

These days if I see one with sane wagering, reasonable max cashout and no weird gotchas buried in the terms, that already puts it ahead of the pack. I’m a lot more interested in whether the site pays and how much stuffing around comes after a win than the size of the headline offer.

What’s everyone seeing lately? Any decent ones still floating around for Aussie players, or has it mostly turned into marketing fluff and hoops to jump through?

I reckon the first place to look isn't the freebie, it's the cashier. If they make you deposit before you can touch any win from it, or leave withdrawals sitting there with a cancel button, I just bail. Been around long enough to know the loud offers usually mean the most stuffing around later.
