question After bouncing around a dozen books, these are the ones I still use

Figured I'd chuck this up for anyone bouncing between apps trying to work out which ones are actually worth keeping. I've had accounts with a stack of them over the years for AFL, NRL, racing, a bit of tennis at stupid hours... and most of them look good for about 5 minutes until you actually start using them properly.

The big thing for me now isn't the flashy signup stuff. I care way more about whether the odds are consistently decent, whether same game multis are usable without feeling like you're getting clipped from every angle, and how painful they make withdrawals and ID checks once you finally jag a decent win. That's where a lot of them fall apart.

The ones I keep going back to are usually the boring reliable ones. App works, markets go up early enough, live betting doesn't freeze every second click, cashout isn't doing weird stuff, and if I pull money out on a weekday arvo it lands without drama. Sounds basic, but heaps of sites still manage to stuff one of those up.

A couple I've used had nice odds in one sport and then absolute rubbish elsewhere. Others were fine until verification time, then suddenly it's upload this, selfie that, wait 2 days, send another doc... yeah no worries mate. I get checks need to happen, but some books are clearly smoother than others.

Promos too... I've become pretty cynical there. Bonus bets can be alright if you're already gonna bet that round anyway, but a lot of the boosted odds and "specials" are more marketing than value. If you've been around long enough you can usually tell pretty quick which sites are just dressing up average prices.

If I was giving quick rough scores just from regular punter use, I'd rate sites highest when they nail 3 things: fair pricing, fast payouts, and not making the whole thing feel like hard work. Good menu layout matters more than people admit as well, especially on a busy Saturday when you're trying to get a few bets on without digging through rubbish tabs.

Keen to hear what other people are sticking with lately. Which books have actually been solid for you once the honeymoon period wears off? And which ones started well then went downhill fast?

My little test now is I chuck in a small deposit, place one boring bet, then try pulling the balance back out on a random arvo before I trust the app with anything bigger. Tells you pretty quick whether the cashier is smooth or about to become a drama. Anyone else do that or do I just reckon the worst now lol

I had one that looked great for a month, nice layout and all that, then after a decent collect I started getting weird little stake caps and support just sent the same copy-paste reply when I asked. Haven't touched it since.

Yep, that bit nails it. If I need three menus and a search bar just to find a line on a busy Saturday, the fancy boosts can get stuffed. Bloody weird how many apps spend more time on banners than making the thing usable.

The stake cap thing is what I'm curious about now. Do you lot hang around once a book starts trimming what you can get on, or is that basically the point you stop bothering with it?

Nah, I don't rate cashout as a deciding factor at all mate. Most of the time it's there to tempt you into bailing early at a lousy number. I'd rather have clear bet history and decent prices than a giant cashout button flashing at me every five seconds.
