question Been trying a few bookies lately — here’s what I’d check before sticking with one

Had a bit of a look around the last couple of weeks and I keep ending up judging the same stuff every time, so figured I’d chuck it here and see what everyone else rates. For me the first thing isn’t even the promo stuff, it’s whether the app/site is easy to use when you’re trying to get a bet on quick. If the markets are buried, live odds are laggy, or the bet slip starts carrying on, I’m usually off pretty fast.

After that it’s the boring stuff that matters more than people admit. How fast deposits show up, whether withdrawals are smooth, how painful the ID check is, and if they randomly ask for extra docs after you’ve already been verified. I also pay attention to limits and whether the odds feel competitive on the sports I actually punt on, mainly NRL, AFL and a bit of racing. Some sites look good at first glance but once you compare line by line they’re pretty average.

Live betting and cash out can be handy too, but only if they actually work properly. A few places seem fine pre-game then go to bits once the match starts. Same with promos — boosts and bonus bets are nice, sure, but if the turnover rules are cooked or the eligible markets are tiny, I don’t really count that as much. Support matters a bit as well. If something goes wrong on a Saturday arvo, you want a real answer, not canned chat replies for half an hour.

So yeah, that’s pretty much how I size them up now. Ease of use, odds, payout speed, verification hassle, and whether the thing holds together during live play. Keen to hear which bookies you lot reckon are actually solid lately, and which ones have gone downhill.

Yep. I binned one pretty quick because the search was a dog’s breakfast, then once I finally found the markets I wanted they started trimming what I could get on. Stuff like that tells me more than any sign-up offer ever will.
