question Before you back an NRL game, what are you checking first?

Been trying to tighten up how I punt on the footy instead of just going off gut feel and a couple of stats I half remember from the arvo shows.

For the regulars here, what do you actually look at before placing a bet on an NRL match? Team lists and late outs are the obvious ones, but are you putting much weight on travel, weather, short turnarounds, line movement, refs, recent metres, whatever else? Keen to know what people reckon matters most and what ends up being a bit of noise.

Also, are most of you sticking to head to head and line stuff, or do you get into totals and player markets as well? Not after any magic locks lol, just trying to get a better routine together before chucking a bet on each round.

If youve got a method that keeps you disciplined, or a couple of things you always check before kickoff, would be good to hear it.

Biggest thing for me is combo changes, not just outs. A late swap in the halves or hooker can wreck the attack even if the names still look decent on paper. I keep a little checklist on Friday arvo: team list, who backed up from the week before, and whether a side's been living off field position instead of actually creating much. I reckon recent results can lie pretty hard if a team scored off repeat sets and errors.
