question Flat bets beat fancy progressions every time, or am I just stubborn?

Bit of a rant, but I reckon most of the clever bet ladders people swear by are just a fast way to torch your balance. Every time I’ve tried the whole “raise after a loss, drop after a hit, recover in 3 spins” stuff, it feels good for about 10 minutes, then one rough patch comes along and chews through the lot. Pokies don’t care what step you’re on.

These days I’m way more hard-headed with it. Set aside what I’m willing to lose for the session, chop it into small bets, and if the machine’s dead I bail instead of trying to outsmart it. Boring? Yeah maybe. But boring keeps me playing longer, and I’m not doing that grim top-up at 11pm because I got cute chasing losses like a drongo.

Curious what the rest of you do though — do you actually follow a proper bankroll setup when you play, or just wing it depending on how the arvo’s going? And has anyone found a progression system that genuinely helps without turning into pure punishment when the reels go cold?

True, but I still reckon a routine can help you manage your own bad habits. I’ll nudge the bet a touch after a good hit and reset fast if nothing follows, mainly so I don’t end up mindlessly hammering the same size. Any version built around getting losses back quick is cooked though.
