question Flat bets, step-ups, or splitting the bankroll into a few shots?

Been on the pokies long enough to know there’s no magic system hiding out there, so I’m not asking how to beat the game or any of that carry-on. More just curious how the regulars here set up a session so the balance doesn’t get absolutely smoked in 10 minutes.

I used to keep it dead simple and run the same bet the whole way. Lately I’ve been breaking the bankroll into a few separate cracks at it instead, especially on the really swingy games. Sometimes I’ll give a machine 80-100 spins at one level, then either chuck it in, drop the bet, or nudge it up a touch if it actually feels alive. Not talking martingale nonsense, just trying to manage the damage a bit better.

What do you lot do these days? Same bet all session, tie it to a percentage of the roll, only raise after a hit, hard stop after losing a set amount... something else? Keen to hear from people who’ve been around a while, especially if you play the volatile stuff where one bad arvo can chew through heaps before you even blink.

I reckon the only thing that helped me was treating the balance like separate little piles before I even start. Once one pile is gone, that's it for that game, no topping it back up because it 'owes' me. If I jag a decent bonus early I peel some off straight away, otherwise I know I'll just feed the whole lot back.
