question Smaller opens and less auto c-betting - is that where the game’s heading?

Been seeing a fair bit of newer poker content lately saying the old default stuff is getting toned down a bit - smaller preflop opens, checking back more flops, and not just firing because you were the last aggressor. Feels like a lot of the chat now is more about position, stack depth, and who actually has the nutted hands on each board, rather than those blanket rules everyone used to parrot.

Not posting this like it’s some huge breakthrough or anything, just feels like the current direction from coaches and grinders. Even in lower stakes games, heaps of players look a bit sharper now, so the autopilot lines don’t seem to print the same way they used to.

In cash games I keep hearing more about wider blind defence and using smaller sizing from early and middle spots. In tourneys, especially when stacks get awkward, there also seems to be more acceptance around limping in some spots instead of trying to force every hand into raise-or-fold. A few years back that got brushed off pretty quick, now it seems pretty standard depending on the table.

Keen to hear what others are changing lately. Are you actually adjusting to this stuff at the tables, or do you reckon a lot of it only really matters once the opposition is decent? Curious what trends people here are seeing, especially in local pub comps or online small stakes where the player pool can be a bit all over the shop.

yeah reckon the bit I still struggle with is the wider blind defence stuff. Are you finding that works better live where people size a bit face-up, or are you doing it online too? I keep talking myself into peels from the big blind then end up in ugly turn spots.
