I’m pretty fresh to poker and keen to learn it properly instead of just winging it and punting chips for no reason. Been watching a few games and reading bits here and there, but once people start talking about position, ranges, pot odds, all that stuff... yeah I get a bit lost.
If you were explaining it to someone starting from scratch, what are the main things to get right first? Like, is it mostly about playing fewer hands, paying attention to table position, knowing when to fold, or managing your bankroll so you don’t go broke in one bad session?
Also curious what beginners usually mess up the most. Bluffing too much? Calling too often? Chasing rubbish hands? If anyone’s got simple tips, a basic plan to follow, or even a couple of solid habits to build early on, chuck them in. Would rather learn the boring fundamentals now than do everything backwards, cheers mates.
