question Anyone still finding decent sign-up freebies that are actually worth the hassle?

Been seeing a few sites lately offering a little starter credit or spins before you even deposit, and I was curious how everyone here judges whether they're legit or just a time-waster.

I get that the freebie itself is usually tiny, no dramas there, but the catch always seems to be buried in the terms somewhere. Massive wagering, max cashout caps, certain pokies excluded, or they want full ID checks before you can touch anything. Fair enough on the KYC side, but some of these promos look good for about 5 seconds and then you read the fine print...

For the regulars here, what do you reckon is the first thing worth checking? Wagering requirement? Max withdrawal? Game restrictions? Time limit? I feel like max cashout is the one that stings the most when you hit a nice little run and then realise you can only pull a fraction of it.

Also keen to know if anyone has actually had a smooth experience with these lately in Australia, or if most of them are more of a "have a spin for fun" thing rather than something you'd seriously chase. Not asking for miracle wins or anything, just trying to work out which ones are genuinely playable and which ones are a bloody waste of an arvo.

Chuck in any tips on red flags too. Stuff like weird bonus locking rules, delayed verification, or promos that look simple until you click through three pages of terms. Might help a few of us avoid the dodgy ones.

First thing I check is whether the bonus is sticky. If the free funds themselves can't be withdrawn and only a slice of the winnings can convert, I usually bin it straight away. Also watch for the sneaky bit where you finish the playthrough and then they still want a real deposit before you can cash anything.

Yep, and I'd add payment method rules to the check list. Had a promo that looked fine till I dug a bit more and saw certain payout methods weren't usable with bonus winnings. Sounds dull compared to chasing spins, but it saves you heaps of stuffing about later.

I'm a bit opposite on the cap thing tbh. If the playthrough is silly or the promo only counts on a handful of rough games, the cap almost doesn't matter because you're probably never getting near a withdrawal anyway. Do most people here really rank the cap first, or only after checking what games actually contribute?

My lazy test is live chat. If I ask one basic question about expiry or whether winnings get locked and they fire back canned waffle, I'm out. Saves a bloody lot of mucking around.
