Been seeing heaps of places chuck around the whole free-on-signup thing lately and I’m curious how many of them are actually decent once you get past the headline.
Like... has anyone here genuinely managed to turn one into a real cashout without jumping through a million hoops? Every time I read the fine print there’s some weird cap, massive playthrough, certain pokies excluded, or you finally get a win and then cop verification drama.
I’m not expecting free money obviously, just wondering if there are any that are actually fair enough for a muck around, or if most of them are basically bait. Keen to hear which ones were alright for you and which ones were a complete stitch-up.
Also, do you usually bother with them at all, or just skip straight to normal promos and save yourself the headache?

Nah, I wouldn’t write them all off. A few are fine if the rules are plain and you sort the ID stuff first, most of the horror stories come from people clicking the headline and never checking what part of the balance is actually cashable.

I still mostly agree with the OP tbh. Even when one isn’t a straight-up trap, it can still be annoying as hell with restricted pokies, weird max cashout bits, or bonus funds that never really feel like your money. I reckon they’re only worth a look when you feel like a muck around, not when you actually want a clean withdrawal.

Bit harsh maybe? I’ve had a couple that were pretty painless. What I’m curious about is whether you all verify before you start playing, because that’s usually where the complaints seem to blow up.

My lazy rule now: if I can’t find the withdrawal section and the excluded-games bit in under a minute, I bail. Saves a heap of stuffing around later, and if they make the basics hard to find it’s usually not worth the punt.
