question Who do you lot trust before trying a new bookie?

Been punting long enough now that I don’t really buy the first review page that pops up on Google. Half of them read like the same bloke changed a few words, slapped a rating on it and called it a day.

What I actually want to know is the stuff that matters once you’ve had an account for more than 10 minutes - payout speed, how painful the verification is, whether they limit winning accounts fast, if the live betting holds up during NRL/AFL peak times, and whether support is any good when something goes sideways.

So where are you lot checking before signing up with a new sportsbook these days? Forum posts? comparison sites? Reddit? just word of mouth from other punters?

Keen to hear what people here reckon, especially from anyone who’s been through the usual drama with promos that look good at first and then turn out to be a bit ordinary once you read the fine print properly.

If there are a couple of sources you actually rate for Aussie-facing bookies, chuck them in here. Would save sifting through heaps of fluff.

I reckon the quickest tell is whether a review talks about getting money out, not just getting signed up. I had one mob make me resend docs and suddenly the glowing writeups looked like a joke. Since then I trust punter comments way more than those polished rating pages.
