question Form guides are getting a lot more local lately — anyone else seeing it?

Been seeing a fair bit more state-by-state racing coverage lately, not just the usual big metro meetings. Feels like there are more previews now for NSW, VIC, QLD and even the smaller cards, with people putting out track notes, barrier maps, speed maps, trial comments and late mail a lot earlier than they used to.

The other thing is how much the weather and track updates are moving markets now. A horse can look well placed in the morning, then a downgrade or a few scratchings come through and the whole race shape changes by the arvo. For anyone having a punt on the nags regularly, that last-minute info is probably doing more work than the basic form guide on its own.

Keen to know what everyone's actually using these days. Are you mostly following stable mail, sectionals, replays, ratings, or just sticking with one or two tipsters you reckon are reliable? Would be good to hear what's been useful lately, especially for local meetings where the info can be a bit all over the shop.

Yep, that's spot on. I still start with replays and a rough map the night before, but if the track chops out or they come off the rail, half the form goes in the bin. For the smaller meetings I get more out of watching how the first couple are run than any early preview.
