question Flat stakes, doubles, or just vibes — what do you lot actually use?

Been mucking around with a few different ways of staking lately and I’m starting to wonder if anyone actually sticks to one for more than a month 😂 I start off all disciplined with 1-unit plays on AFL and NRL, then a juicy multi pops up on a Saturday arvo and suddenly the whole plan’s out the window.

I keep hearing people swear by flat staking, some go percentage of bankroll, a couple mates reckon grinding promos is the only thing worth doing, and then there are the blokes doubling after a loss which feels a bit cooked to me... maybe I’m missing something though. Not chasing some magic formula, just keen to know what people here actually use when they’re trying to punt without setting fire to the bank.

If you’ve found a way that genuinely keeps you sane, chuck it in. Even if it’s just a basic rule like never increasing after a bad round, or keeping singles separate from multis. Curious what actually holds up once the season gets rolling and everyone gets a bit bloody loose with it.

What finally stuck for me was treating straight bets and mess-around bets as separate things. Main plays stay the same size every time, and if I want a multi I assume it's gone before I hit place. Keeping a little notes app log helped more than the staking rule tbh, because the random impulse bets looked way worse on paper than they felt in the moment.

This bit is the real killer lol. If you split off a little side pot for the wild stuff, do you actually stop when that one's gone or do you end up sneaking back into the main roll? I reckon that's where most plans fall apart, not on the normal plays.
