question Suddenly every poker vid is pushing GTO charts — is that where the game's heading?

Lately it feels like every second poker clip, app update, or coaching post is banging on about ranges, solver spots, preflop charts, all that gear. Feels a bit different from a couple years back when heaps more of the chat was just table feel, player reads, and not punting off stacks in dumb spots. Maybe I’m late to it, but it really does seem like the whole learning side of poker has shifted hard.

I’m kinda curious how much of that stuff regular players are actually using day to day. Are people really memorising proper ranges now, even at the lower and mid stakes, or is it more just content creators making it look like everyone has to study for 6 hours in the arvo before playing a session? I reckon some of it makes sense, especially preflop, but some of the postflop stuff looks bloody robotic.

Anyone here changed the way they play because of this trend? Keen to hear if you’ve started using charts or solver study and whether it’s helped, or if you still trust instincts and adjustments more than the textbook lines. Feels like the game’s moving pretty quick right now.

I reckon heaps of people are overcooking the solver stuff tbh. Most lower stakes players don’t need to look like a robot, they need to stop punting in the same obvious spots over and over. If you did start changing things, what part actually moved the needle for you most, preflop discipline or folding more on later streets?

Best tip I got was stop trying to study everything at once. I just keep a really simple preflop baseline, then after a session I look back at the few hands where I felt properly lost. Way easier than cramming charts and you still tighten up fast.
