question Tightened up at the micros and stopped donating chips

Been mucking around in low-stakes cash and little tourneys for ages, mostly playing too many hands and convincing myself I was just “seeing flops cheap”... which is usually code for lighting money on fire.

Last couple of weeks I forced myself to cut the junk out, play way tighter before the flop, and actually care about position instead of clicking buttons because I was bored. Biggest change wasn't some magic trick either, just way less spew. Sessions feel calmer now and I'm not forever trying to claw back chips after doing something dumb in the first orbit.

The other thing that helped heaps was stopping the fancy stuff against players who clearly just hate folding. I kept trying little hero bluffs and cute triple barrels because it looked good in my head, and yeah nah, that was getting punished hard. Value betting more and bluffing less at these stakes has been a lot better for me. Pretty basic, but it's worked.

Still rough around the edges obviously, but this style feels way more solid than the loose punty garbage I was playing before. Keen to hear what actually made the biggest difference for you lot though — preflop discipline, table selection, notes, bankroll rules, something else?

curious what you actually chopped out first though mate - was it more the loose calls from the blinds, or opening junk from early spots? i reckon a lot of people say they tightened up but it ends up just meaning different things
