question When did you stop limping every hand?

Bit of a random one, but I was thinking about how heaps of us start out playing hold'em by just seeing way too many flops and hoping to spike something. That was me for ages. Any ace looked pretty, suited cards looked exciting, and next thing you know you're chucking chips in with rubbish from early position like a drongo.

Lately I've been trying to tighten up a fair bit, especially in cash games, and it's actually wild how much easier the later streets feel when you haven't wandered in with junk. Still get stuck on the in-between spots though... stuff like small pairs under the gun, suited connectors when stacks are awkward, and when to fire a re-raise instead of just calling and mucking around.

Curious what actually changed the game for you lot. Was it learning position properly, being more patient preflop, c-betting less, folding top pair more often, whatever. Keen to hear the one thing that made you go from "yeah I'll have a crack" poker to something a bit sharper.

If you've got any simple rules you stick to, throw them in. Nothing too wizardy haha, just the stuff that actually works at normal stakes.

Biggest shift for me was stopping the automatic blind defence. I used to think well I've already got money in there, may as well peel, and it just turned into heaps of gross spots out of position with second-best hands. Once I started binning more of that stuff, later streets got way less guessy. Still curious how other people treat the tiny pairs early though, I still flip flop on those depending how loose the table is.
