Bit of a rant, but these freebie offers for new players are getting pretty ordinary now. You see the ad and think sweet, chuck us a few spins or a little balance to try the pokies out... then you click through and the terms are absolutely cooked.
Half the time it is some tiny max cashout, crazy rollover, only works on 3 dusty games nobody wanted to play anyway, and if you somehow jag a win they hit you with ID checks before you can breathe. Feels like the whole thing is set up to sound better than it is.
I reckon if a site is going to wave around a free start, it should at least be usable without needing a bloody microscope to read the fine print. Not asking for miracles, just something that is actually worth the five minutes it takes to sign up.
Anyone found one lately that was decent for Aussies, or are they mostly a waste of time now? Keen to hear which ones were legit and which ones were just bait.

For me the dealbreaker isn't even the size of it, it's whether the bonus is sticky or if you can pull any real cash off it. Were the half decent ones you tried spin offers or those little balance drops? I've had a couple that were ok just for a poke around, but once the winnings get trapped as bonus funds I switch off.

I had one weird one a few weeks back where the signup went through fine, then right at the promo step it suddenly wasn't available here. Bit of a stitch-up because I'd already done the whole form. Is that happening more now or was I just unlucky?

I've stopped judging them by the headline and just watch how they handle verification. The places that ask for ID early can actually be less hassle later. The ones that let you play first and only start asking questions once you try to cash anything out... that's where it turns into a saga.

my little tip now is hit live chat before you even register and ask two boring questions: can players from here use the promo, and what happens to winnings from it. If they dodge it or paste some vague rubbish, no worries, just move on.
