question Free-chip promo codes... still a thing or mostly bait now?

Been seeing heaps of those little sign-up promos lately where you punch in a code and supposedly get a few free spins or a tiny bit of credit without loading up first. Just wondering if anyone here actually still bothers with them?

I used to be keen on them years ago, but now half the time it feels like there’s some weird catch buried in the fine print - geo blocked, max cashout is bugger all, code expired, or you still end up needing to verify everything before you can even have a crack. Makes me wonder if they’re worth the stuffing around.

Not having a whinge, genuinely curious... are there any decent ones left that are actually usable, or is it mostly just a way to get people through the door? And when you do find a legit one, do you usually get free spins, a small free chip, or one of those bonus balance deals that vanish if you blink?

If anyone’s had a good run with these lately, chuck in what to watch for. Stuff like turnover traps, sneaky time limits, game restrictions, whether the code worked straight away, all that jazz. Would be good to know what’s normal now before wasting an arvo signing up to rubbish.

I mostly bin them now. First thing I check is whether the promo only works on the junk side of the lobby, because a lot of places quietly exclude the stuff you'd actually want a crack at. If the terms only show up after rego, I'm out.

Yep, that's pretty much how I see it now after too many dud signups. The usable ones tend to credit on their own and show the wagering rules before you hand over docs. The dodgy ones always seem to turn into a support chat, then suddenly your account or household isn't eligible.

I still don't mind them tbh, just not for chasing a cashout. I use them to test drive a site a bit - see if the lobby runs properly, if the cashier looks normal, if verification is a mess. Anyone else do that or am I just weird about it?

nah mate I still grab one if it's there. If it lands straight away and doesn't lock half the menu, sweet. If it turns into some bloody email treasure hunt, tab gets closed and she can keep it.
