question Signup freebies used to be better, or am I just grumpy?

Had a bit of a poke around lately trying a few of those sign-up deals where they chuck you a few spins or a tiny bit of credit for joining, and honestly... most of them feel cooked now. Tiny max cashout, playthrough that goes on forever, half the decent pokies blocked, then if you somehow jag a win they want the full life story before you can touch it. Bit hard to get excited about 10 free spins when the fine print is doing backflips.

I reckon a lot of them are really just there to get you in the door and hoping you make a deposit before you realise the freebie was never that good to begin with. Maybe that sounds harsh, but I've seen heaps lately that look decent on the front page then turn into "nah, not worth the stuffing around" once you actually read it properly. The ones with super low withdrawal caps are the worst for me. If I hit something nice, don't dangle it then slap a baby cap on it, mate.

Not saying every single one is rubbish - once in a blue moon there's a proper decent offer and you can have a little bash without feeling stitched up - but they're getting rarer. These days I almost rate clear terms higher than the size of the freebie itself. If a site is upfront and not trying to hide five gotchas in the promo page, I'm already more keen.

What are you lot seeing lately? Any places still doing legit sign-up promos that are actually worth a crack, or has this whole part of the casino scene gone a bit downhill?

my little rule now is i check the cashout cap and the blocked games first, before i even sign up. if that stuff is buried three clicks deep, i bail. also worth flicking support a quick question before you spin anything, sounds silly but you can tell pretty fast if they're gonna be a pain later on.
