question Everyone's suddenly got the hot mail for the races... anyone else over it?

Lately it feels like every second bloke with a phone is pushing some kind of racing mail, paid group, best bet thread, "inside word" for Saturday metro meetings and all that. Been seeing heaps more of it the last few weeks, especially around the bigger cards, and most of it looks like the same recycled picks dressed up different.

Bit of a rant, but I reckon the racing tip scene here has gone way too noisy. One mob tips the fav, another tips the second fav and calls it value, then if one gets up they carry on like they found a miracle at Randwick. Half the time the real edge is gone before regular punters even get a look, or the price is absolutely cooked by the time the tip gets posted around.

What still matters for me is barrier, map, tempo, track pattern, late market push, jockey change... the boring stuff basically. Not some flashy graphic saying "lock of the day". Especially with our racing, where one lane can be off and the whole form guide gets turned on its head by the arvo. You can do plenty right and still get stitched up.

Curious what everyone here is actually using now. Anyone still follow a tipster or preview service that's genuinely decent for local meetings, or are you doing your own form and ignoring the noise? Keen to hear who's worth a look and who is just selling fairy dust.

I went through a phase of paying for a couple of those private groups and it cured me pretty quick. Best thing I got out of it was realising I was better off doing my own shortlist the night before, then checking replays and stewards notes again in the morning. The only stuff I still nick from previews now is if someone spots a horse that had no room last start, because that can be easy to miss if you're rushing through the form.

Yep, that's the whole scam for me. If a bloke has any real edge he isn't blasting it out after breakfast with a flashy banner and a fire emoji. By the time the herd piles in, you're taking unders on a horse that was maybe backable twenty minutes earlier, and then they still call it a win if it runs a place. Bloody racket.

same here, I don't totally ignore them but I use them backwards half the time. If every preview is landing on the same runner, I start looking harder at what could go wrong instead of why it wins. Pace pressure, awkward spot in running, rider change nobody mentions properly... sometimes the best use of the noisy picks is finding what to leave alone.

Nah but here's what I wanna know from the people still doing their own work - how much are you weighting late market versus your map when they clash? Like if you've got one marked to get a sweet run and then it just drifts all arvo, are you binning it or sticking solid? I reckon heaps of punters talk tough about ignoring the market until the horse starts going out and then they bottle it.
