question Full Saturday card and my brain melts - what do you filter first?

Had another look at a big Saturday meeting today and same problem as always... heaps of races, heaps of noise, and if I try to look at everything I end up talking myself into five different runners.

Curious how everyone here cuts through it. Do you start with track condition, speed map, sectionals, stable/jockey combo, market moves, or do you just bin half the card straight away and only play certain race types? I’m trying to get a cleaner routine instead of doing the usual last-minute scroll and chucking something on in the arvo.

Also keen to hear what people ignore now because it used to suck me in a bit — barrier stats without context, random tipster posts, late drifters, flashy last-start wins, whatever. Not after miracle picks, just trying to work out what actually matters most when you’re doing the form. What’s your go-to process, mate?

What level are you mostly betting though — metro Saturdays only, or do you look at midweeks as well? I only ask because my process changes heaps depending on that, especially once the field quality drops off and the maps get messy.

Nah I wouldn't toss late drifters in the bin completely. On their own they mean bugger all, sure, but if I've already got doubts and the thing starts getting cold late, that's usually enough for me to trim the bet or leave it alone.

I used to let the market push me around and it just turned into chasing moves. Best thing I did was keep my own scrappy notes after races instead, stuff like missed the start, trapped wide, hated the wet, never got clear. After a few weeks I trusted that way more than tipsters or flashy last-start wins. I still skip the chaos races though, not worth the headache.
