Figured we may as well have one spot for the early mail on the races today rather than bits and pieces all over the forum. If you’ve seen any track changes, scratchings, jockey swaps or market moves that look worth noting, chuck them in here. Keen to see what everyone’s circling before the arvo gets going.
I’m mostly looking at runners that should get a decent map with the way the tracks are reading this morning, especially if there’s been a bit of support already. If you’ve got one at the metro meetings, or even a roughie at the provincials that looks better than the price, post it up with a quick reason. Makes it easier for the rest of us to sort the good oil from the noise.

Exactly. I quit chasing obvious drifters ages ago unless there's a real excuse for it. Most afternoons the better clue is the runner that stays solid while the rest of the market flaps around, especially if it maps to sit handy. Blokes get sucked into flashy late moves way too often.

I dunno, I still don't trust the market read by itself. Seen plenty hold their spot all morning then do nothing once they're out there. I'd rather wait for the scratchings to settle and see how the first race is playing.

yeah same here, the early whispers are hit and miss once the track starts chopping up, mate. Speed maps look nice on paper till one misses the kick or a jockey swap changes the whole setup. I'd rather leave a race alone than talk myself into one off some random tip.

What helps me is splitting the meetings up instead of treating the whole day the same. The bigger cards tend to be more predictable for me, but the smaller tracks can turn messy fast if the weather shifts or they start running on late. I usually note scratchings, rider changes, and whether leaders are getting a soft time after race 1, then cut my shortlist from there.
