question Most racing mail I read now is just recycled fluff

Bit of a rant, but I’ve gone through a stack of previews and tipsters lately before the first race and heaps of it feels like copy-paste stuff. Same top pick as the market, same so-called value runner sitting a few lines down, same lazy bit about track pattern, then done. If I’m already checking prices and doing a quick map myself, what am I even getting out of it?

The stuff I still rate is when someone actually takes a stand. Tell me why a horse gets the right run, why the jockey switch matters, why you’re happy to take on a short-priced fave. If the whole write-up is basically “best horse if it gets luck”... cheers mate, unreal insight. Could’ve got that off the app while grabbing a pie at the servo.

My take right now is most free racing picks are alright for a quick skim with your morning coffee, but plenty are bloody useless if you’re seriously trying to find an edge. The sharper stuff seems to come from punters doing their own speed maps or posting proper late mail, not the polished mainstream write-ups that say a lot without saying much.

Keen to hear what everyone else reckons though - you found anyone worth following lately, or do you just ignore the noise and do your own form?

Yeah this bit is dead on. If those two clash for you, which one wins more often - the map or the late word? I reckon plenty of late mail is just noise once everyone’s heard it.
