question Saturday cards feel harder to read lately — what are you leaning on?

Not sure if it's just me getting older and grumpier, but the last few weeks have been a proper pain to map early. Rail goes out, rating changes in the arvo, a couple of key scratchings and suddenly the race you liked at breakfast is a different setup by jump time.

I used to do most of my work off speed maps and sectionals, then tidy it up with jockey and trainer stuff, but lately I've been giving a lot more weight to late market moves and how the track is actually playing race to race. Seen too many punters lock in early and get cooked when the inside is off, or leaders are pinching everything by race 3.

For anyone still finding a decent edge through this patch, what are you putting the most stock in right now? Still trusting your own numbers first and living with the chaos, or waiting for yard mail and late patterns before having a proper crack? Keen to hear what is still working for everyone, especially on those messy Saturday metro meetings where half the form goes out the window an hour before the first.

Yep, that's the bit doing the damage lately. I've gone back to using my own map as the starting point, then only betting when the first couple tell me the lanes and tempo are matching it. If they aren't, I trim right down or just leave the race alone.
