Been punting the nags long enough to waste money on just about every shortcut going — paid mail, Telegram channels, blokes on socials posting best things of the day, the lot. These days I’m way more picky about what I pay attention to, and some of the stuff people carry on about just does bugger all for me.
If I’m having a proper look at a meeting, the main things I still rate are speed maps, replay work with a bit of context, and how the track is actually playing on the day. If it’s a weird rail setup or they’re all swooping down the outside by race 3, that matters more to me than some polished preview someone knocked out the night before. Late market moves can help too, but I’m not blindly chasing them anymore. Heaps of steamers are just public money piling in.
Stuff I’ve cooled right off on is the generic subscription mail where they throw up half the field every arvo and call it a win if one lobs. Stable whispers can be handy when they’re genuine, same with sectional stuff, but only if you already know what you’re looking at. Otherwise it’s real easy to talk yourself into a battler at $8 that should be double that.
Curious what the regulars here are leaning on these days. Anyone still paying for private mail and actually finding value, or are you better off doing your own form and saving the cash for the punt? Keen to hear what still cuts through for you lot, especially for Saturday metro stuff where the noise gets bloody loud.
