question Whose mail are you actually trusting for the Saturday meetings?

Bit of a rant, but a lot of the so-called form gurus doing the local meetings have been ordinary as lately. Same shorties everyone already found, then they carry on like they've unearthed some bolter... yeah right.

I'm trying to work out who people here actually rate for the metro cards and the better country meetings. Not chasing fairy tale roughies in every race, just someone who can read tempo properly, spot a dodgy track pattern early, and know when a yard has one wound up first-up.

Do you mostly trust your own form and just use outside mail as a quick check, or is there someone you follow that's genuinely sharp? Keen to hear who you reckon is worth a look for Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane etc, and who is just flogging recycled picks to mugs.

I don't fully agree with that tbh. Public tipsters were always going to land on the obvious ones a fair bit, that's not really the problem. The useful ones are the people who sharpen your map, catch a late pattern shift, or make you look twice at a horse you had marked only fair.

My best run came when I stopped following the all-states crowd and just stuck to people who know one patch cold. I had a bloke for the Qld meetings who was useless outside his lane, but when the track got a bit messy he saved me heaps because he actually watched how the surface was playing instead of pretending every meeting was the same.

I split it by city now. Sydney stuff, I want someone strong on tempo and who'll find the leader that gets left alone. Melbourne, I care more about who notices the lanes early because by the middle of the card you can be cooked if you're still betting like it's even across the track. For the first-up yard angle, trial notes do more for me than most Saturday previews.

Do you even want one person covering all of it though? I reckon that's where punters get stitched up. Anyone saying they're sharp in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane every single week is usually making content first and doing form second. Who here actually follows people that stick to one circuit and are happy to pass races?

The ones I bin straight away are the guys tipping every race on the card then doing the hindsight dance after. If they never say leave it alone, they're not giving you anything useful, they're just keeping the feed busy. Passing races is usually the first sign someone can actually bet.
