I’ve mucked around with pretty much every staking plan over the years on the reels — flat spins, little step-ups after a win, chasing a bonus with a temporary bump, even the old double-up nonsense when I was younger and thought I’d cracked it. Didn’t take long to learn the machine doesn’t care what clever name you give your system...
These days I’m way more boring with it. I’ll usually set a session bank, pick a spin size that gives me plenty of runway, and only move it if I’m properly ahead or if the game is clearly too jumpy for the starting stake. For me, flat staking lasts longer and keeps my head straight. Once I start jumping denominations every few minutes, that’s when I do silly stuff.
What I still see heaps though is players swearing by progressions — up after losses, up after wins, reset after a feature, all that. I get why people do it, because it feels like you’re giving yourself a better shot at catching the good part of the cycle, but the maths is still the maths. You might change how the session feels, sure, but you’re not bullying a pokie into paying because you’ve got a pattern written in your notes app.
Still, I’m keen to hear from the regulars here. What have you actually stuck with for more than a few sessions? Not what sounds good in theory — what do you really use when your own money’s on the line? Flat spins only, small press after a hit, hard stop-loss, win caps, feature buys with fixed sizing... chuck it in.
Would be good to hear what’s worked for keeping discipline too, because honestly that’s the bit most punters struggle with, not the system itself.
