question Flat stakes, Kelly, ladders... what do you lot actually use?

Been down a bit of a rabbit hole lately with all the different ways people structure their bets — flat stakes, % of bankroll, Kelly, little recovery ladders, even the old chase after a bad run. Not really talking about miracle picks or tipsters, more the actual setup behind how you bet from week to week.

I mostly have a dabble on NRL and AFL, and I keep wondering whether any of these methods genuinely help over a season or if it just feels tidy on paper and then variance still belts you anyway. Flat staking makes sense to me because it keeps things simple, but then you see punters swearing by percentage staking like it changed their life and I start second guessing it.

Curious what people in here actually do. Do you keep it dead simple and chuck the same amount on every play, or do you scale up and down depending on edge/confidence? And has anyone here stuck with one approach for long enough to say yeah nah, this is the one that stopped me punting like a muppet on a Saturday arvo?

Would be keen to hear real examples, especially from anyone who actually tracks results properly instead of just remembering the hot streaks. Cheers.

I'm kind of the opposite. Same stake on every play never clicked for me because not every price I take is equally good. I use a small rolling percentage and it stops me getting too loose when I'm up. Do you base it off total bankroll or just what you've actually set aside for the week?

Best tip I can give is track the reason for the bet, not just odds and result. My sheet looked way better once I split actual planned plays from random live bets and boredom punts. Made it obvious the staking method wasn't even the main leak half the time.

I wouldn't touch recovery ladders, bloody trap. People dress it up like it's disciplined because the steps are written down, but if the whole point is getting losses back quicker you're still chasing. Better to cop a rough round than dig the hole deeper trying to force it.

Question for the trackers in here - do you keep multis in the same log as singles or split them out? mine gets messy fast because one dumb little combo can make a decent week look way worse than it really was lol
