question Flat stakes or little step-ups after a bonus?

Been playing pokies long enough to know there’s no magic formula, but I’m still curious what people actually stick to when they sit down for a proper session. Do you keep the same stake the whole way through, or do you bump it up a bit after a feature lands / a decent base hit comes in?

I’ve tried a few different ways over the years — fixed amount per spin, tiny increases when the balance gets ahead, even the old chase-it-back stuff when I was younger and dumber... that one can get ugly bloody quick. These days I’m way more about keeping the session alive, but I still wonder if I’m being too conservative sometimes, especially on games that feel dead at lower stakes.

What do you lot reckon actually works best for managing the bankroll on slots? Not talking miracle systems, just practical stuff real players use. Like do you set a hard number of spins, a loss limit, only raise after you’re playing with profit, switch denom instead of stake, that sort of thing. Keen to hear from anyone who’s been around a while and found a routine that stops the balance getting torched in the first arvo half hour.

That bit is pretty much where I landed too. I stopped counting spins and started thinking in little time blocks plus a hard session cap. If it chews through that before the arvo even gets going, I take the hint and log off.
