question Martingale on pokies is a mug's game, yeah?

Bit of a rant, but I reckon most of those bet progression systems people bang on about for pokies are mostly just ways to lose your bankroll in a fancier pattern.

Every time someone says "double after a loss" or "press it when you're hot" I kinda roll my eyes. Pokies don't care what happened 5 spins ago. You can have a decent run, sure, then one rough patch and suddenly you're chucking on bets way bigger than you meant to. Seen plenty of mates do it, chasing the idea that the next hit will sort it out... and yep, sometimes it does, until it absolutely doesn't.

For me the only thing that's ever felt halfway sensible is keeping the bet size boring and making rules around the session instead. Like set a limit, decide what size spin suits your bankroll, maybe bump it a tiny bit if you've jagged a nice feature and you're playing with profit. Nothing dramatic. No hero stuff. The flashy systems sound clever but most of them seem built to get you tilted quicker.

Curious where everyone else lands on this. Anyone actually swear by a progression system on pokies and stick with it long term, or do most of you just go flat bet / small adjustments and call it a day? Keen to hear if someone's got a method that isn't complete bloody nonsense.

nah, not always. I reckon a super small ladder can actually stop me doing dumb stuff because the rule is set before I start. not using it because the reels owe me anything, just because it keeps me from randomly jumping bet sizes when I'm annoyed.
