Been playing long enough now that I pretty much never sit on pokies without some sort of rough money plan in my head. Not anything fancy with spreadsheets and all that, just stuff like how much I’m prepared to burn for the session, what base bet suits the game, and whether I’m allowed to bump it after a feature or if that’s just me getting carried away.
I used to do the usual punter thing and chase a cold run by nudging the bet up every few spins... bad habit, bloody expensive one too. These days I lean more towards fixed bet sizes on high vol games and only step up if I’m properly ahead, otherwise it gets messy real quick. Especially on those slots that can eat 100 spins and give you bugger all back.
What I’m curious about is what setups you lot actually stick to in real play, not the ideal version. Flat bets the whole session? Little ladders up and down depending on balance? Hard stop after x amount lost or won? Keen to hear what’s worked for people over time, and what turned out to be nonsense once real money was on the line.
Chuck in your rules if you’ve got them. Even simple ones. I reckon most of us have learnt a few lessons the hard way here.
