question Spent a few weekends testing staking plans on the footy... anyone else gone down this rabbit hole?

Been mucking around with a few different ways of staking bets on AFL and NRL lately, mostly just to see if any of them actually calm down the chaos a bit. Flat stake every game, small percentage of bankroll, tiny step-up after a win, that sort of thing. Nothing too cooked, and definitely not the full martingale carry-on lol.

My rough take so far: the boring stuff feels way more usable. Flat staking was nowhere near as exciting, but at least I wasn’t torching the bank after one bad arvo. The percentage style made a bit of sense too, especially when I had a shocker and it naturally pulled the next stake down. The progression ones looked clever when I scribbled them out, then one scrappy round of footy came along and the numbers got ugly fast.

What surprised me was how much this stuff gets into your head more than anything. If your picks are average, no fancy plan is saving you, simple as that. Still, some of them do seem to stop the random tilt bets and the old “I’ll get it back on the late game” nonsense, so I get why blokes stick with them.

Curious what you lot reckon. Anyone found a method that actually held up once real matches started, not just in theory? Or did you try a few, think nah bugger this, and go back to keeping it simple?

Were you tracking line movement too or just the results? I've had flat staking runs look pretty average on paper, then later realised the picks were still decent because the price kept shortening after I got on.
